This page was born in May 2022, 4 years after my long battle against both corporate burnout and Lyme disease began, and 6 years after I dove headfirst into my accounting career.
I will spare the paragraphs of unnecessary life details and traumatic events that have led me to be who and where I am, but the most important lesson I have learned through my struggles is that you can only exist in survival mode for so long. You can only numb out your true desires and needs for so long until it inevitably kills you slowly inside. You might become unable to give love to others or wake up one day unable to function or be as productive as you're used to. Even worse, you may think you've been giving others and life your love and your best but it's been coming out all wrong and entirely ineffective due to several misalignments.
So, this website is my dedicated hobby space after learning these lessons the hard way. This website is a promise to myself, a permanent priority.
Most of the things I have found to bring me joy involve cooking food, being in nature, exercising, my two dogs and now mothering my sweet baby boy since October 2022.
There is no defined game plan or timeline for this blog, so please bare with me and check back regularly for updates.
I do hope that just starting or illustrating my process along the way and sharing my happy place might inspire or remind others that life is too short to be mean to yourself or live inauthentically.
It may feel like the entire world weighs on your shoulders and there's never time for fun or new pursuits, but there is when you commit to it. It's never too late to make new choices, build consistency, or try something new. You can always start, even if just a little at a time. You don't need any other reason other than yourself. And you don't need all the resources or skills you think you do. Be bad, just start!
The story of the name Alyssia Jade stems from my adoption story and is my way of honoring my biological mother and the name that she picked for me at birth.
May both of my mothers rest in peace.

Alyssia Jade is named in honor of my biological mother and the name she had picked out for me before I was adopted. She will forever be remembered by her loving heart, warm soul, and her immortal spirit that still lives on. Forever grateful for and thinking of my heavenly angel of a mother, Lorrie Salvagni Kenyon.
